I've seen this advertised on tv lately and decided to give it a try.

I'll confess that I'm a coke-aholic when it comes to refreshments, and I know I need to give less of those things. I don't like lemon in my water and after a glass or two of ice cold water, I felt like I wanted something else. So, I picked up one of these flavors in the grocery the other day

and decided to give it a try.

I got to tell you, this stuff is actually pretty good. And cheaper than buying

bottled water, easier to carry around with you. I've sense picked up 3 more flavors.

Since I like cokes, I don't do the 'pepsi' thing and often when you

go out to eat they may serve Pepsi instead of Coke. I also do the sweet iced tea

thing.....and as we ALL know, sugar does NOT desolve in

cold tea.....give me a break waitress!!

Ok, so I can now order a glass of water....no lemon please,

and add my own flavor.

And YES, I'm drinking more water and less Cokes with this stuff.

I think that's pretty cool!

Seems like it's been a strange year. Not really anything in particular that I can put my finger on, but, well, it has been.

I was just looking back at the post for this year, and there's not really much there my friends. And I'm sorry I haven't jumped on the wagon and shared more. I do try to speak up every once in a while and let you know that I'm still out here. And many thanks for those few of you that keep a slight watch out there. It's to you that I send my apologies!

I've put crafting aside for this year and we didn't do one of our cool vacations this year, so no pictures on either of those topics to share either.....bummer huh?

Got to tell ya, this thing is SOOOOOooooo cool!

And darn near impossible to come by, even at the Apple store! After spending a few hours on the internet and phone on Friday we came to the conclusion that our only option of laying hands one was was to drive to Nashville. Not something we were really looking forward to, got to tell ya....3 hours up, 3 hours back on Saturday, that was the plan.

But hubby came to the rescue (as always) :o* Even though at the last check before he left work, there wasn't one in town. One quick stop at Best Buy (just to check), and thanks to the Apple guy that was on site at Best Buy, we were able to get what seemed like the LAST one in TOWN. I was extremely happy and so was hubby, cuz now there was no drive to Nashville!!

And honey, thanks for WiFi 'ing us!!

I've been playing around with the look of the blog. Blogger has added some new templates and I've got to say that they are pretty cool looking.

I'm hoping that the weather will be like last year.....June was pretty warm for us, but then it cooled off (for us) for the rest of the summer. June is not normally this hot, that's usually not until August. But here's hoping that we'll cool off again this year.

I'm blogging a new way this posting....I'll try and share my new 'toy' with you soon. I'm still getting the hang of it, but so far, so COOL!

Chelsea - 1991-2010

This sweet angel and I have been through a lot together. For a good bit of her time on this earth it was just her and me and she was very much like my child. Daddy came along and thankfully, they became best buddies.

We noticed in the past few months that her 19 years seemed to be catching up with her, moving a bit slower, sleeping a bit harder and longer. But believe me when I tell you that no other cat on this earth has had a better life. She never doubted that she was loved and cared for. And took great pleasure in messing with the dogs when she could.

Wednesday we found it necessary to help her make that final step. It wasn't something that we who loved her wanted to do, but knew above all things that it was the right thing to do for her.

With a heavy heart, we let her go. She will always be loved and greatly missed.

We were busy last week, with deliver of new appliances and we replaced three light fixtures around the house.

This one went in the laundry room over the new washer and dryer.

This one is above the sink in the kitchen.

And this one is on the ceiling in the kitchen. That kitchen is seriously lite up now along with the new venthood over the stove....you can now see what you are doing. I love every one of these!!

We went to see this Sunday afternoon, after waiting a couple of weeks since it opened to let the crowds die down a bit. That's something we always do, it's more enjoyable that way. If you haven't seen this movie, you should....it's actually quite good.

I grew up watching old movies......the Basil Rathbone 'Holmes' is what I loved the most. Any other actor playing him, well, it just didn't seem right. Great cinema they were not, but I grew up loving mysteries and these pleased me.

I'm always glad to see Robert Downey Jr. in a good film, because I'm never disappointed. And his 'Holmes'.....well, it didn't disappoint either. Last night he won the Golden Globe for this roll. This actor is extremely talented and if he can get past his demons, he delivers. He's wasted too many years because of these demons and it seems he's coming into his own now. By the looks of the list of his 'future' projects, he will be busy and I look forward to seeing some of these.

BTW....there's a sequel to this movie of the list of his future projects.

Stuck over in a quiet little corner of Temple Church is this effigy. It had a couple of things sitting in front of it, but I managed to get a shot of it. If you do a double take and check out the small plaque on the wall just behind the effigy, it reads 'Repaired and Beautified - 1687'.

The least that I could to is tell you about the first pictures I posted, right? I mean, I've been rather rude about not sharing, but hope you will forgive me when I tell you that I've been sick for the past two weeks and hope that I'm on the uphill swing now....or at least starting it.

Ok, if you are a movie buff such as myself, you could possibly have seen these effigies before. In the movie The Davinci Code, our two stars make a visit to the Temple Church in London.

I can not begin to tell you what reverance and inspiration this breathtaking setting leaves with you. Hush sounds, with few words spoken amongst the visitors. The movie could not even begin to give you the feeling of this place.

While most of our touring in London had to do with museums, cathedrals and churches, this one can stand on it's own next to any grand cathedral for awe-inspiring settings.

Now, you have GOT to want to find this place, because it's not down on the local corner and you have to do some weaving through buildings and parking lots.......but ........well....it's SO worth the effort. The first day we went it was actually closed, but we headed back a couple of days later because it was a 'must see' for us.I think it was worth it, don't you? Should you ever find the opportunity to make this visit, please do so. You will not regret it! At the time of our visit, it didn't cost to walk around, but there was a 'donation' basket handy, and we gladly contributed.

It's a positive thing and it just happens to fall on this day.

Today is my one of my brothers' birthday. To be specific, he's the one on the left, the oldest of the four of us. Cute picture huh? Not easy being the oldest, but I'd say he did a pretty good job of it, the rest of us managed NOT to kill him or anything. Now, unless you have siblings that may sound silly..but for those that do, they understand. Heck, it got close for me a couple of times...being the only girl, and having 3 older brothers....I'm dang lucky I survived.

But I digress......

I live in the south....so, well...it's July and we all know what that usually means for the south.. HEAT...unbearable, HOT HEAT!

My positive spin..........it's NOT 107º....today, it's 84º...in JULY...in the SOUTH.....we are eating this up. It's actually cooler than it was this time last month....go figure!

Sad to say, I don't read the newspaper. I catch my news on line and I'm pretty picky about what I choose to read. The reason: I'm tired of all the negativity, hate and distruction in this world. I choose to make my small corner as comfortable and 'postitive' as I can.

So, when I found this over on Trav's blog, I thought, man, I'm there! He got it from Dust Bunny Hostage.

I'm now passing it on to you.................let's find some postitive things in this world. Don't even wait until the 31st...........take a look around and find something to share with us all that's going to be a 'positive' for our day.

Spring is a totally amazing time isn't it. You plant stuff in the ground, add a little heat and some water and Zoowweeiiiii.........stuff grows.

I've shared part of this story before....but as a reminder.....hubby gave me these flowers 2 years ago for our anniversary...See that stick poking up in the middle of the flowers.....more decorative than anything. Well, I decided, just for the fun of it, to stick it in some water........ok, I got roots, cool....then I put it in a pot...and it grew...even cooler. So this year, after it survived a second winter in the pot, I thought 'what the heck, I'll put it in the ground and see what happens'.....You remember, it's that little twiggy looking thing to the left there....stuck in the corner of the garden back in April because I wasn't sure what it was going to do.......

So, when was the last time you grew a tree from a twig???? Now, come fall, I'll have to find another place to put it (it's too close to the fence here)......LOL............who knew!!!

Ever have the feeling that you are being watched?? I mean, you know...like you are being stared at, studied..........Ok, so it's hot outside............I mean H-O-T...............so a girl's got to cool off any way she can right??? Sorry, it was early evening so this came out a bit dark.........

You might remember the saga about digging up the pampas grass and replacing it was a crape myrtle. Well, that cm is totally amazing and something I've never seen before.....it's RED.

Not rose, or pink or any variation of those....it's RED. So cool!!

Came in to work this morning and found two of these little guys running around outside my window just playing and having a good time. They were moving so fast that I didn't get a chance to get a picture of them. I found this one on the web. **btw....I forgot to tell you these are chipmunks...they look an awful lot like squirrels, but are smaller and cuter. :o)

Now, how cool is this. We've seen the same little fox three times now. Right in the same area so I figure his/her den has to be close by. Pretty little thing too. Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence? Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they? Twenty-four were laywers and jurists. Eleve were merchangs, nine were farmers and large plantation owenrs: men of means, well educated, but they signed the Delclaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags.

Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almose constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him and poverty was his reward.

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests
and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots.

It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Remember: freedom is never free!

It's time we get the word out that patriotism is NOT a sin, and the Fourth of July has more to it than beer, picnics, and baseball games.

But isn't it pretty. I suspect not getting enough direct sun might be the cause of only one bloom. But I had put another bush in front of it to protect it from the heat, because it wilted so much.One of them is going to have to be moved this fall because I SO want more blooms than just one. And while I would love for it to be blue, I'll just be happy with more.

Right outside my window....

On the window ledge outside my office window I spied this little guy the other day,

just stopping by for a rest and to air those wings out.

On the way into the door this morning there was a momma Killdeer trying to fake me out with a broken wing. But I assured her I was not after those little babies running around, I slowly went by and made it to the door. Once inside, I had to retrieve my camera and try to sneak a few shots in. Trust me, she was quite aware of the fact that someone was just on the other side of that clear thing looking out at her.
I wish you could see a better shot of what's under those wings. Look closely, there are four sets of legs besides hers. Another shot.....But best of all, here's one of the babies..........as tall as a blade of grass and just as cute as can be.
Momma and Daddy had their wings full trying to keep up with those four babies. They would be running everywhere, exploring, then after a bit, they'd coming running back to her wings for protection. Daddy would hover in the trees close by keeping a lookout that all are safe.

How we spent our summer 'staycation'

We normal head out this time of year to see a bit of the country. Visit places we've never seen before. But this year, we've planned something different. This year, we will spend Christmas elsewhere instead of with family. I'll share more on this as it gets closer....but now...here's what we did on our summer 'staycation'.

We painted......exciting huh?? I know, I know, we just painted the living room a year and a half ago. But DH wasn't fond of the color in the end, so we painted again. The green disappeared.
Freshened the fireplace with a bit of touch up.
And moved the furniture around some. Looks like a whole new room and very relaxing.

We went to see Angels and Demons. Did some yard work. And played with the dogs.

Oh yeah, I got some reading in too. All in all, a nice staycation.

Our FAVORITE Chicken Salad recipe

Chicken (Beer-butt chicken)

Chopped celery (about 2 stalks)

Chopped ½ onion

Salt & pepper to taste

1/8 teaspoon of dill

1/8 teaspoon of paprika

1/3 cup of Miracle Whip Salad Dressing or Mayo (Add more if needed)

Prepare the chicken with McCormick's Rotisserie chicken seasoning, using inside and out on the chicken. Grill on a half-can of beer, soda or wine. Let cool.

Remove the chicken from the bone and chopped into bite size pieces. Add celery and onion.

Add dill, paprika, salt and pepper and stir to mix. Add salad dressing or mayo and fold. Serve or chill before serving, good either way.
This time I added sliced grapes and some dried cranberries
Serve as a sandwich or on a lettuce bed with some chopped peanuts on top.

Trust me, this is sooooo good!!
